2020 Spring Season Canceled 4-19-2020

4-19-2020

From Wyoming Valley Youth Soccer Association:

Due to a variety of factors stemming from the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the WVYSA has taken the unfortunate, but necessary step to cancel the Spring 2020 Season. We understand this will be a great disappointment to all of our clubs, teams, coaches, officials, players and families. Our first priority is the safety of the players, coaches, referees and their families.

We have been in contact with EPYSA and Luzerne County and will continue to follow CDC guidelines. We came to this decision with the input from all of the clubs. We had so hoped to bring some activity and joy to the players (who we really miss) and give them an outlet in these difficult times, but time is not on our side.

While there will be no organized soccer for the time being, now is a great opportunity to encourage your young player to be more comfortable with the ball. Engage with them and a ball as often as you can, even for a couple minutes a few times a week. It can go a long way to keep their confidence and excitement up for the next time we can all get out together.

We will now begin planning for the Fall Season and will keep the same timeline as past years. All of these plans though continue to hinge on the ever changing situation we are dealing with. Please refer to your home club's website/facebook page for any further information regarding registration fees and the upcoming Fall Season registration (it will be here sooner than you think!).

Stay home and stay safe.

Some Stay at Home resources to Work on your game

In what is becoming a long off season, it is a great time to encourage and engage with your child and a ball.

These are a couple websites that have some great content to to help learn and work on some soccer skills. Even for our youngest players. Most of the exercises don't require a goal to shoot on or even that much space. If you try the moves out yourself and with your child it will go a long way in enhancing their enjoyment of the game. A positive 10-15 minutes with your young player even a few times a week can go a long way.

U8 update

4-14-19

Hey Everyone,

Just a quick update. We're still looking for a couple more coaches. If any one wants to step up and give it a go, please contact me. As soon as we get a few more volunteers I can finalize the rosters and get them out.

Thanks,

Chris

Spring Update for our In house players

Hello Everyone,

Our In House soccer program (for kids born in 2011 or later) will have their first games the weekend of April 27/28. We're in the process of putting together the teams and finding a few more coaches so we can start practices next week. Let's hope the weather continues to cooperate!

If anyone did sign up to coach (like our returning coaches), or is still interested, please fill out the Spring Coach Registration at the bottom of the page. Or, if you have any questions about it and are considering coaching, please let me know.

The day of the week and time of practice is up to the coach, so I can't give anyone a definite time/day of your player's practice until everyone is rostered on a team. We'll be reaching out to our coaches this week and have an update for everyone this weekend.

If you haven't already, now would be a good time to make sure you player has a size 3 soccer ball, soccer cleats, and shin guards for when we do get started.

Looking forward to seeing everyone out there!

Thanks,

Chris

Spring Registration *Please read for proceeding to Registration*

*Registration is closed for the Spring season.

We've changed our registration system to fall in line with our Parent organization's (Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association) upcoming mandate.

To make sure you receive the family discount, please make sure all the players are registered at the same time.

You will come across a "Documents" section in the registration process that allows for uploading pictures and birth certificates. You can skip past that section. It's not required.

We do our best to accomadate any special requests for teamates/coaches but they are not guaranteed.

Also, please consider coaching or volunteering. We're always looking for help, and for our Fall registration, which will be happening soon, we'd like to reconsider our lottery fundraiser. We'd love to hear from anyone with experience or interested in running an appropriate fundraiser for this Fall.

Keep your fingers crossed for better soccer weather than last year, and we hope to see you out on the fields soon!
